Harry Potter Wii!!!!

Hello my lovely readers. It's been a long time since I've contributed anything to this site and, because I am just that evil, I'm not technically "back" just yet. However, while perusing my favorite Harry Potter-themed website out there, Mugglenet, I came across this juicy tidbit that will please both die hard video gamers (like me) as well as die hard fans of Harry Potter (like me). Turns out EA, who is quickly becoming my favorite company ever, is going to release the one game I want more than anything else: Harry Potter Wii. I am not exaggerating with that statement either. If I could choose between, say, Beyond Good and Evil II or Harry Potter Wii, there would be no question. Zelda vs. Potter? Mario Kart? Doesn't matter.

So I don't really know anything about this game, other than it will be released this fall, but it will be something worth selling some organs for. Consider this: the Wii remote is actually quite similar to a magic wand. You can wave it in the air just like a wand and, if the programming is up to snuff, it will react accordingly. I think you see where I'm going with this. When you throw in the fact that no book has come out since last summer and the next movie isn't scheduled to come out for 364 more days, and you have a Harry Potter dream game. I imagine it will be a Harry Potter simulation. A game based on what it would be like to go to Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft.

Spells would be done just like they are done in the Potter-verse: saying the words with the corresponding wand motion. So Wingardium Leviosa would require a simple flick whereas Sectumsempra would be more of a slash. Oh, I'm giddy just thinking about it. So, in my dream game which I assume EA is working on now, you'd just go to "class" to learn these spells (or skive off and copy Hermione's notes later), but then you'd be able to use them in a practical sense. Opening locked doors with Alohomora; lighting your path with Lumos; even checking out the Marauders Map with "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." And that's only the simple spells. How about using Langlock to shut up a teacher (like Snape!), dealing with the consequences later. Or having to mix up your potion. No more of that simple alchemy found in other games. Just go to the library, look up what you want to make, and actually do it. And flying a broom would be ridiculously fun. Oh man, you could even sneak into the kitchen by tickling the pear paining! This has to happen, right?

It's funny, before this news I assumed I would not even be buying a Wii this year (Zelda will be just as sweet for the Gamecube) but now I totally need one.
