On the rocks

So, first off, check out these two videos. A fella from my Halo 2 clan made them, and I think they're damn fantastic. Probably the most well-made, professionally-edited, intelligently-scored Halo videos I've ever seen. The first one is just a pure display of skill, the second a reel of clan in-jokes wrapped around some of the best no-scopes and trash talking you've ever seen/heard. In short, they're why I play Halo every night of my life with the same group of guys, and why the game hasn't gotten old seven months after the fact.

While watching a trailer reel of 360 games with Tom at E3 (which was actually the best and only way to see most of them), we remarked at the number of games with guns and gangstas. It was fairly disheartening, to say the least. The worst of which was Saint's Row, developed by my darling Volition, comprised of nothing more than an unexciting, miserably typical FMV trailer of sorts. Apparently no one but me understands how goddamned good a next-gen Red Faction 3 would be, but they could at least not fill it's absence with total horsecrap. Or so I thought. After watching a ten-minute gameplay video that made the rounds, I'm actually a bit excited about it. Sure, it's a generic GTA clone with an exploitative theme, but it looks damn good and great physics should add a lot to a game of that type. I don't think I'll ever stop loving explosions in games (it's most of the reason Mercenaries is so good), and they look spectacular in SR. Anyhow, I'm keeping a keen eye on it now, and at the very least it should be a solid hour or two of completely enthralling chaos.

Lastly, the We Love Katamari boxart has been released (at least for Japan), and, well, take a look:

No way in hell we'll get it, but isn't it great? Also, check out the newest trailer (the good bits are near the end). It's funny that I can actually see myself playing this more than anything on the 360. Well, maybe not so funny.
